Save Claude chats in Apple Notes on your Mac
Keep editable text in the note, attach a PDF for the original layout, and use iCloud to reach it on your iPhone.
To move a chat from Claude to Apple Notes, paste a formatted copy into a note or attach an exported PDF. Export in Chrome on your Mac, then keep the note in iCloud to read it on your iPhone. On macOS Tahoe 26 and later, you can also import a Markdown file.
Copy the conversation in Chrome on your Mac
Use DocMyChat’s Copy option in the open claude.ai conversation. It copies both formatted text and Markdown.
- Open the conversation in Chrome with the extension installed.
- Click Export next to Share.
- Choose Copy, labeled for Google Docs.
- Create a note in an iCloud folder in Notes.
- Give it a descriptive title.
- Paste the conversation below the title.
- Compare the pasted content with the chat.
Check any tables, checklist items, code, and formulas. If they arrive as ordinary text, use the repairs below before filing the note.
Use normal paste for formatted content. See the formatted-copy guide for what gets copied.
Import a Markdown file on a supported Mac
Apple Notes imports Markdown on macOS Tahoe 26 and later. Choose this method when you want a note and a separate file to keep.
- Choose Markdown from the export menu.
- Open Notes.
- Choose File → Import Markdown.
- Select the downloaded
.mdfile. - Click Import.
- Confirm Import in the confirmation window.
With iCloud enabled, the imported files appear in Imported Notes under iCloud. Check the result, then move it into your project folder.
The import turns Markdown into rich text. Check equations and image references before discarding the original file. Images link to claude.ai and need your signed-in session, so attach important ones separately to save them with the note.
Save a short passage without an extension
For a few paragraphs, select the text in your browser, copy it, and paste it into a note. Include the question when it explains a constraint such as a budget or software version.
For a longer selection, check the first and last lines and passages around code or tables. Follow the single-response guide if you only need the final answer.
Repair tables, checklists, code, and formulas
Notes accepts tables pasted from other apps, with some formatting limits. If a grid arrives as ordinary lines, choose Format → Table and move the data into it. Keep a PDF for a large comparison to avoid rebuilding it.
Try clicking a checklist item. If it’s just text, select the paragraphs and click Checklist, following Apple’s list guide. Mark completed items to match the chat.
Check code indentation and line breaks. Control-click the selected code and choose Font → Show Fonts. Pick a monospaced font, following Apple’s formatting guide. Compare a long line and a nested block with the original: a font change won’t restore missing characters. Keep the code file if you plan to edit or run it.
Notes’ Math Results evaluates typed expressions and variables. If a pasted derivation still shows dollar signs or commands such as \frac, keep the LaTeX source or attach a PDF with typeset equations.
Attach a PDF to preserve the layout
Use a PDF for an explanation with fractions, a chart, or columns that must stay aligned. DocMyChat typesets formulas and includes chat images in the PDF. Very large images may be left out, so check the preview and any warning from the extension.
- Choose PDF in the export menu.
- Select Save as PDF in Chrome’s print dialog.
- Save the file on your Mac.
- Drag it from Finder into the note.
- Open the attachment to check the pages.
Use View As to change the preview size, keeping a compact preview below the text you’ll edit.
The PDF walkthrough covers the print dialog. Turn off Headers and footers under More settings if Chrome adds its own page details. The note stays editable beside the PDF.
Put the note in iCloud before opening it on your iPhone
Choose an iCloud folder, since On My Mac notes are stored separately. If needed, enable Sync this Mac in iCloud settings using Apple’s Notes setup guide. iCloud notes are available on devices signed in to the same Apple Account.
Open the note and its PDF on your iPhone before a commute or class. If either is missing, check the account and whether the attachment has reached your phone.
For example, save “Camera exposure practice — 2026-11-02” in an iCloud learning folder. Put three exercises at the top, the explanation below, and a PDF with exposure equations at the end. You can then find the exercises quickly on your phone.
Does saving a note connect the apps?
Saving a copy doesn’t give Claude access to Notes or add later replies to the note. DocMyChat doesn’t supply an Apple Notes connection.
If you want a live integration, look for an entry that supports Apple Notes in Anthropic’s connector documentation. Check the supported app and requested permissions before connecting.
Questions
Can I run DocMyChat on my iPhone?
No. Export in Chrome on a desktop computer, then open the saved note or file on your phone. DocMyChat is not available for iOS, Safari, or the Claude desktop app.
Why can’t I attach a PDF to this note?
Check which account contains the note. Notes in an Exchange account can’t hold file attachments. Use an iCloud note for the steps described here.
Should I keep a link back to the original chat?
Yes, add the actual conversation URL on a separate line and test it after saving. Keep the exported content as well, so reading your notes doesn’t depend on reopening the online conversation.
Can I keep only the final answer?
Use the export icon under that reply instead of the chat’s header menu. That saves the answer you want, so there’s no earlier discussion to remove from your note.
