1. Copy it as Markdown
Hover the reply and click Claude’s Copy button. You get the reply as Markdown, which pastes perfectly into Markdown editors such as Obsidian, Typora or a GitHub comment.
Into Word, Google Docs or email it pastes as text with the symbols showing — **, #, pipes for tables and LaTeX for formulas. If that is where it’s going, use one of the next two methods.
2. Select and copy the text
Selecting the reply with the mouse and pressing Ctrl + C copies what the browser shows, so some formatting comes along. It is fiddly on long answers, tends to pick up buttons and labels around the reply, and formulas and code blocks often don’t survive the trip.
3. Export the reply as a document
With DocMyChat installed, every reply gets an export icon next to Claude’s Copy button. Click it and choose:
- PDF — a single, print-ready document of that answer;
- Word — an editable .docx with real equations and highlighted code;
- Markdown — a .md file of the reply;
- Copy — formatted text to paste into Google Docs, Notion or an email.
The document carries the chat’s title and a line saying it is a Claude reply and when it was written — handy when you file it away.
Already copied it? Convert the Markdown
If you have a reply on your clipboard from Claude’s Copy button, paste it into our free converters — Markdown to Word or Markdown to PDF. They run entirely in your browser and use the same engine as the extension.
