How to copy a Claude chat into Google Docs

1. Install DocMyChat for Chrome.
2. Open the chat on claude.ai and click Export next to Share — or the icon under one reply.
3. Choose Copy. The formatted chat is now on your clipboard.
4. Paste into a Google Doc with Ctrl + V (⌘ + V on a Mac).

Why Claude’s own Copy button isn’t enough

Claude’s Copy button puts Markdown on the clipboard. Google Docs pastes it as plain text, so you get the symbols instead of the formatting: **bold**, ## Heading, pipes where a table should be. And it copies one reply, without your questions.

DocMyChat puts two versions on the clipboard at once: formatted text that documents understand, and Markdown for editors that prefer it. Whatever you paste into picks the one it handles best.

What comes through

• Headings, bold, italics and links as real formatting.
• Lists and tables as Google Docs lists and tables.
• Code in a monospaced font with its colors.
• Labels for each turn and the chat’s title at the top.

Formulas are the exception: Google Docs can’t receive equations through the clipboard, so they paste as LaTeX text. If your chat is full of math, export to Word and open the .docx in Google Docs instead — it converts Word equations into its own.

Notion, Word and email

The same copy works anywhere rich text is accepted. In Notion the headings, lists, tables and code become blocks. In Word and Outlook it pastes as formatted text. In a plain-text field you get clean Markdown.

Keep it in Google Drive as a file

If you want a file rather than a pasted section, export to Word and upload the .docx to Drive. Drive can keep it as Word or convert it to a Google Doc, and the formatting, images and equations come with it.
