Save Claude research in Evernote
Keep an editable conversation in a note, or attach a PDF alongside your own summary so the research is easy to revisit.
To move a conversation from Claude to Evernote, paste a formatted copy into a note or attach an exported PDF. Paste when you want to edit the text, and use PDF to keep the exported page layout. Evernote also imports Markdown and can search PDF contents within its indexing limits.
Paste the chat into a new note
DocMyChat copies formatted text and Markdown from the claude.ai conversation open in Google Chrome on your computer.
- Open the conversation in Chrome with the extension installed.
- Click Export next to Share.
- Choose Copy, labeled for Google Docs.
- Create an Evernote note in your research notebook.
- Give the note a descriptive title.
- Paste into the note body with Ctrl + V or Cmd + V.
Use normal paste to keep HTML formatting, including headings, bold text, and lists.
For a short answer, select and copy text in Claude without an extension. Include the question if its constraints matter. See the export guide for longer conversations and individual replies.
Check the elements you need to reuse
Before filing, check the parts you’ll reuse. Keep a PDF when appearance matters.
Compare table headers and the first and last rows. If columns collapse, create a table with / → Table and move the data into it. For code that arrives as ordinary text, use / → Code Block and check indentation. Both controls are in Evernote’s slash-command guide.
If the note still shows LaTeX commands, attach an exported PDF for typeset math. Open important images too. Markdown image links need a signed-in claude.ai session, so attach essential images separately to keep them with the note.
Attach a PDF alongside your summary
A PDF keeps formulas, tables, and diagrams readable. Write your conclusion above it so you remember why you saved the chat.
- Choose PDF from the export menu.
- Select Save as PDF in Chrome’s print dialog.
- Save the file to your computer.
- Open the Evernote note.
- Type
/on a new line. - Choose Attachment.
- Select the PDF.
- Open the attachment to check the pages.
The attachment command works on Windows, Mac, and the web. You can also drag in the file. See the PDF walkthrough for preview and print settings.
Confirm that PDF search finds the content
As of November 2026, Evernote’s Free plan includes image and document search. Its paid individual plans, Starter and Advanced, both include text and attachment search.
Evernote can’t process PDFs larger than 52 MB per file for search. Your account’s note and attachment limits also apply.
Search for a distinctive phrase found only in the PDF, then open the match. If it fails, check the file size and try an ordinary sentence. Evernote ignores punctuation and symbols when matching text.
Import Markdown for editable text and a portable file
- Choose Markdown in the export menu to download a
.mdfile. - Open Evernote’s desktop app.
- Click your profile icon or name.
- Choose Settings → Import.
- Select the downloaded file.
Evernote converts imported Markdown into editable notes. Check the headings, tables, and links before discarding the original file.
Keep the file for a text copy outside Evernote. See the Markdown export guide for its contents. Markdown downloads and Copy are free in DocMyChat.
Decide whether Web Clipper is enough
Choose the Web Clipper format for the part you want to save. Selection takes selected text or images. Article detects the main section of a page, while Full page saves a static copy with its layout and navigation. Simplified article removes layout and formatting.
On claude.ai, preview the selected area before saving. Then open the note and check the first and last messages, code, and any artifact content you need. A bookmark or screenshot won’t give you an editable transcript of a long discussion.
Web Clipper suits a passage or source webpage. For a conversation archive, PDF export gives you a preview of the chat to check before filing.
Use your research notebook and a few tags
Keep chats with the project they support. Notebooks group notes, while tags connect topics across collections. On desktop or the web, choose Add tag at the bottom of the note.
For example, file “Home insulation options — 2026-11-02” in your home-project notebook. Put the question and your current decision first, followed by the conversation URL and saved chat. Add claude, insulation, and needs-review tags. Note which claims still need checking against original sources before you act on them.
Connect Claude to Evernote for access to your notes
Evernote’s official MCP connection is available to paid Evernote users. It lets Claude read existing notes and create new ones with your permission. You can find the Evernote connector in Anthropic’s directory.
Use that connection when you want Claude to work with your notes. DocMyChat saves a copy for you to file yourself, without connecting your Evernote account.
Questions
Why did my Markdown file become an attachment?
Dropping a .md file directly into Evernote’s note list creates an attachment. Use Settings → Import in the desktop app when you want the file converted into editable note content.
Why does pasting as plain text still format Markdown?
Ctrl + Shift + V or Cmd + Shift + V removes the incoming HTML styles. Evernote still reads Markdown characters, which can turn into headings, lists, and other formatting.
Can I import the Markdown file on my phone?
Evernote’s file-import workflow requires its desktop app. You can attach a file to a mobile note, but that is a different operation from importing Markdown as editable text. DocMyChat exports also require desktop Chrome.
Will the saved note update when I continue the Claude chat?
No. Export again after a significant revision, or add only the new answer to the saved note. DocMyChat doesn’t automatically sync conversations with Evernote.
