Save a Claude chat as a Notion page
Use the clipboard for a page you’re editing now, or import Markdown when you also want a file to keep.
To move a chat from Claude to Notion, paste a formatted copy into a page or import Markdown. Copy is quicker, while Markdown gives you a file to keep. Check equations, tables, and images after either transfer.
Paste the chat into a new page
DocMyChat’s Copy option puts formatted text and Markdown on the clipboard. Start with an empty Notion page.
- Install DocMyChat in Google Chrome on your computer.
- Open the conversation on claude.ai.
- Click Export next to Share.
- Choose Copy, labeled for Google Docs.
- Open a new Notion page.
- Paste into the page body, below its title.
- Read through the pasted content before filing it.
Notion turns pasted content into blocks. If formulas or code arrive as plain text, use the fixes below.
Use normal paste, since plain-text paste drops formatting. If a long chat needs too much cleanup, try Markdown import. The formatted-copy guide explains what goes on the clipboard.
Import Markdown when you also want a file
Keep the downloaded .md file after importing. It’s your reference if a table or formula needs rebuilding.
- Open the conversation’s Export menu.
- Choose Markdown to download the file.
- Open Settings in Notion’s sidebar.
- Select Import.
- Select Text & Markdown.
- Upload the downloaded
.mdfile. - Open the imported page and check its contents.
Notion’s importer supports standard Markdown, including headings, lists, and code blocks. Advanced Markdown extensions and anchor links may need repairs. Try any links that jump to another part of the page before relying on them.
See the Markdown export guide for file contents and images that need separate copies.
Save a short answer without an extension
For a paragraph or short outline, select the answer in your browser, copy it, and paste it into an empty page. Add the prompt above it if the answer needs context. This is often enough for a meeting agenda or interview questions.
Selecting text by hand gets awkward across many turns. You also need to catch missing text and collect any separate files yourself. Read the first and last lines after pasting, then check passages around tables and code blocks.
Use DocMyChat’s export icon under a reply to save just the finished answer. That keeps earlier revisions out of a final brief. See the single-response guide for the steps.
Check equations, tables, code, and images
The Markdown export keeps LaTeX between dollar signs. If a pasted or imported formula still looks like $…$ or $$…$$, move the expression into a Notion equation block.
Type /math to create a Block equation, then paste the expression without the dollar signs. For example, enter E = mc^2. Notion’s math guide covers its KaTeX equation blocks and inline equation input. Check its supported KaTeX functions if a more complicated expression won’t render.
Give the other elements a quick check too:
- Headings and lists: check that levels and nesting still make sense.
- Tables: compare the row and column counts with the chat, especially cells with several lines. A neat grid can still be missing content.
- Code: check indentation. If the snippet arrived as ordinary text, create a
/codeblock and paste it there. For long lines, turn on Wrap code as shown in Notion’s code-block guide. - Images: Markdown contains links to images on claude.ai. You need to be signed in to open them, so an imported image link won’t serve as an offline copy.
Save an essential chart as an image and add that file to the page. Keep a visual reference beside editable content when the layout matters, such as a table pairing measurements with units.
Keep one database page per conversation
Create a database called “Claude archive” with one page for each saved conversation. Each Notion database item is a page, with properties for details such as dates, status, and links.
For a November customer-research project, try “Interview guide — renewal customers — 2026-11-02.” Add the project, saved date, source chat URL, and review status as properties. Above the imported text, write two sentences about what you accepted and what still needs checking.
Keep the finished interview questions on the project’s working page and the longer conversation in the archive. After a significant change, save another dated copy or replace the old one. The date tells your team which answer they reviewed.
Connect Claude to the workspace
To have Claude search or edit Notion directly, use a connector. Notion MCP lets compatible AI tools, including Claude, read and write pages using your Notion permissions.
In Claude, open Customize → Connectors and find Notion in the directory, following Anthropic’s setup guide. Review the permissions it requests. DocMyChat saves a separate copy of the chat. It has no automatic sync or Notion API integration, so later replies won’t update the saved page.
Questions
Can I import a Markdown file from my phone?
Notion imports files on desktop and web. Import the file on your computer, then open the resulting page on your other device.
Which version is saved if I edited a prompt or retried an answer?
DocMyChat exports the branch currently shown on screen. Open the version you want on claude.ai before exporting.
Will code blocks keep their programming language?
Markdown exports include a language label for each code block. Check Notion’s language selector at the top left and correct it if needed, as shown in its code-block guide.
Can I import several saved chats together?
Notion supports selecting multiple Markdown files during import. DocMyChat exports one chat at a time, so you must save those files separately first.
