To export a Claude chat on iPhone or Android, try a PDF from your phone’s browser or copy the reply into notes. For a formatted conversation file, open the same chat on a computer. DocMyChat works only in desktop Chrome.
Copy the answer you need now
For a checklist or draft email, save the useful reply first.
- Open the reply in the Claude app. Use Copy if it appears among the controls.
- Otherwise, open the same chat on claude.ai in your phone’s browser and select the reply’s text to copy it.
- Paste the text into a new note.
- Add your question above it if the answer needs context.
Read the pasted answer’s first and last lines. Then compare lists, tables, or code with the original. If the note shows formatting symbols, keep the text intact until you can tidy it in the destination app.
Suppose a 12-message chat ends with a six-item moving-day checklist. Save that answer in “Moving-day checklist — November 3,” then keep the full exchange for context. The single-reply guide covers saving the answer as a document.
Keep a link back to the conversation
Open your chat in your phone’s browser and save its address in a private note or message to yourself. You don’t need a public snapshot to return to your own chat.
If the native app offers a sharing action, read its access setting before sending the link. For email invitations, use claude.ai in the browser: as of November 2026, sharing with specific people is web-only.
A public share link lets anyone holding it view a snapshot without a Claude account. Later messages stay private until you update the snapshot. Review the conversation before creating one. The sharing guide explains access choices.
Try a PDF in your phone’s browser
Open the conversation on claude.ai in the browser. These commands are in Safari or Chrome, separate from the native Claude app.
On iPhone in Safari
Use Apple’s webpage-to-PDF route:
- Open Share, which is under More in some Safari layouts.
- Choose Markup to view the page as a PDF.
- Choose Done, then Save File To. Done may also be under More.
- Name the file and tap Save.
On Android in Chrome
Chrome’s Android printing instructions include saving the preview as a PDF:
- Open More → Share.
- Select Print.
- Choose Save as PDF from the printer choices.
- Choose where to save the PDF and save it.
Inspect the preview and then open the saved file. Look for the first prompt, a middle reply, and the final answer. Check the rightmost columns of wide tables and the ends of code blocks.
If something is missing or unreadable, use the computer route below. For a paper copy, the printing guide covers document preparation and print settings.
Request account data from the web interface
Claude’s account export is available through the web app or Claude Desktop. The native iOS and Android apps can’t start it.
On your phone, open claude.ai in a browser and look under Settings → Privacy for Export data. Request the archive if that control is available. Otherwise, use a computer. Team and Enterprise members need an owner to enable member exports.
The email download link requires sign-in and expires after 24 hours. The archive contains account and conversation data. See the chat-history export guide for the full procedure.
Finish a formatted export on a computer
Claude supports continuing conversations across web, iOS, and Android. Sign in to the same account on your computer.
- Install DocMyChat in Google Chrome.
- Open the conversation on claude.ai.
- Check that the final reply you need is present.
- Click Export beside Share in the chat header.
- Choose Word, Markdown, or PDF.
- For PDF, choose Save as PDF in Chrome’s print dialog.
Word and Markdown download directly. PDF opens a clean preview and the print dialog. Open the result and check tables, formulas, or code before transferring it to your phone.
Put the file somewhere you can reach from your phone, such as your usual synced files folder. Open the saved copy on your phone once before you need it away from your computer. Keep the chat title in the filename so you can match it to the original conversation later.
Questions
Is there a DocMyChat app for iPhone or Android?
No. DocMyChat is a Chrome extension for desktop computers. Use it on claude.ai in Chrome on your computer, then move the saved file to your phone.
Can I install the extension from Chrome on Android?
Google’s phone installation instructions use Add to Desktop, which installs the extension on your computer. That button doesn’t run DocMyChat in Chrome on your phone.
Can I ask Claude to make a document from the discussion?
Yes. The iOS and Android apps can create Claude Docs, which you can view and edit from Artifacts. Treat that new document as a separate draft, and compare it with the conversation if preserving the original wording matters.
