How we compared
We compared publishers’ websites, exact store listings, pricing, and help. We did not install competing extensions, time exports, or check downloaded samples. We make DocMyChat, whose claims come from our product documentation.
We looked at formats, editable Word equations, artifacts, single replies, processing, accounts, and price. A readable formula may not be editable. An artifact appendix differs from a source file you can run.
Monthly prices for annual plans require annual billing. For options beyond extensions, see the guide to exporting a Claude chat.
DocMyChat: best for editable Word equations and artifact files
DocMyChat saves the open claude.ai chat or one reply in desktop Chrome as PDF, Word, Markdown, formatted clipboard content, or an artifact ZIP. Documents are built in your browser without an extension account or a DocMyChat server receiving chats.
Word formulas become native Office Math equations you can edit. PDF typesets the math, while Markdown keeps the LaTeX. The Word export guide covers reports with calculations.
PDF, Word, and Markdown collect artifacts in an appendix with version counts. The ZIP keeps the latest version of each artifact or generated file, without earlier drafts. Save a debugging discussion and its latest parser.py separately.
For Claude Docs and decks published as artifacts, the export adds a titled link where each was created. Their content isn’t included. Save it with the artifact’s own Export. Slide HTML and JSON written only to build a published deck stay out of both the appendix and the ZIP.
- Pros: editable Word equations, separate artifact files, and one-reply export. Markdown, Copy, and artifact downloads are always free.
- Cons: no JSON, CSV, TXT, or image export, automatic sync, bulk backup, chat search, or bookmarks.
PDF needs an extra step in Chrome’s print dialog. With Copy, formulas reach Google Docs as LaTeX text.
Choose it if you need editable Word equations or code files alongside the conversation.
AI Chat Exporter: best for structured formats and message selection
AI Chat Exporter advertises PDF, Markdown, TXT, JSON, CSV, and images, along with selected responses and PDF layout controls.
The Claude-specific listing describes math and artifact support, plus ZIP downloads of Project files. Other assistants have separate extensions. It does not advertise Word output or native Word equations.
- Pros: structured data, plain text, selected turns, and PDF customization. The listing says non-PDF formats need no account and run in the browser.
- Cons: PDF requires sign-in and temporary server processing, according to the publisher.
The pricing page offers three free PDFs daily. Starter costs $1.98 per month billed yearly for 30 PDFs daily. Standard costs $2.98 per month billed yearly for 100 PDFs daily.
Choose it if selected turns, CSV, or JSON matter more than a Word document with editable equations.
AI Exporter: best for work spread across AI services
AI Exporter at saveai.net names Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Grok, Copilot, Perplexity, and NotebookLM. Its platform totals vary, so look for your services by name.
Its store listing advertises the table’s formats, selected messages, and combining conversations across models.
- Pros: several AI services in one tool, Word output, and direct Notion delivery.
- Cons: formula preservation may not mean editable Word equations. Try a math chat, check the selected branch, and ask about a ZIP of the latest artifact files.
The site says PDF uses its server and most other features run locally. Ask where Word files are built and whether your format needs an account.
The free plan lists three PDFs, eight Word exports, and eight Notion exports daily, with free Markdown, JSON, and TXT. Pro costs $5.88 per month or $46.56 per year, shown as $3.88 per month with annual billing.
Choose it if you work across several assistants.
Claude Exporter by backrun: best for direct document destinations
Backrun’s listing advertises PDF, Word, Google Docs, and Notion, with selected messages, artifacts, and font controls. The help page describes a file sent to Google Drive or an entry added to a Notion database.
- Pros: direct destinations, single-message selection, and typography controls. The listing says no extension account is needed. Google Docs requires Google sign-in, and Notion requires authorization.
- Cons: published quotas and processing claims disagree. For editable Word equations or a ZIP of the latest source files, ask for samples.
The listing gives ten full-chat and fifteen single-message exports monthly. The pricing page gives five and seven, plus $8 for one month or $48 for one year without automatic renewal. Check your allowance in the extension.
The listing calls all conversion local, but the privacy policy says most formats are local and mentions server conversion requests. Ask which formats use a server.
The help page also calls Notion paid while including it in a free-plan list. Confirm access before paying. Choose it if direct Google Docs or Notion delivery saves you a manual upload.
Thinksolv’s exporter: best for answers-only documents
Thinksolv’s Claude to PDF, Word and Google Docs advertises full chats, single responses, selected messages, and answers-only export. Answers-only export removes your prompts.
- Pros: three document destinations, artifacts, and several ways to choose content, according to the listing.
- Cons: confirm the price, account requirements, and processing location. Test an equation in Word before relying on math preservation.
The listing describes charts and graphs as images. Ask about a ZIP of the latest artifact files.
Choose it if you want explanations without revision requests, and check that each answer makes sense without its prompt.
Claude to PDF: best for PDF page controls
The Claude to PDF listing advertises page sizes, orientation, light and dark themes, content scaling, custom titles, and filenames.
- Pros: PDF layout choices and selection of parts of a conversation.
- Cons: no advertised Word output for editable equations. Check artifact handling, account requirements, price, and processing location before committing to it.
Check your widest table, longest code line, and the conversation’s beginning and end in a sample PDF. Choose it if page layout matters most.
Choose by the next task, or use the official account export
Take a 40-message engineering chat with a table, two equations, and three versions of a script. Try sending the explanation, editing the math, and opening the script before comparing prices or page styles.
For account history without an extension, use Claude’s official data export. On the web or Claude Desktop, open Settings → Privacy → Export data. Anthropic emails a download link that requires sign-in and expires 24 hours after delivery.
Team and Enterprise members need an owner to enable personal exports. Primary Owners use the organization export. Choose this route when you need account and conversation data, rather than one answer prepared for a client.
Questions
Is it safe to give an extension access to claude.ai?
The permission tells you which site an extension can access, but you also need to know what it does with the chat. Check the publisher’s processing policy for your chosen format and the site permissions you grant. Follow your organization’s rules when exporting its data.
Are free exporters enough for occasional use?
Often, yes, if the formats you need are free. Count how many files you need on your busiest day, including another export after you fix a document. A daily allowance that works for occasional notes may fall short when several reports are due together.
Which version of a retried answer will I get?
DocMyChat exports the branch shown on screen. With any exporter, open the version you want and compare it with the downloaded file. Don’t treat one export as a record of every alternate answer.
Does a PDF prove that Claude’s answer is correct?
No. A PDF saves the answer in another form without checking whether it is right. Check calculations, quotations, and source links before sending the document as finished work.
