Where DocMyChat fits better

Use Word for a draft you need to finish. Formulas become native Office Math, headings use Word styles, and lists and tables stay editable. Follow the Word export walkthrough to save the file.

For a lab report, change an equation’s coefficient and revise the table headings. PDF typesets formulas for reading. Markdown keeps the LaTeX source for editing elsewhere.

PDF, Word, and Markdown collect artifacts in an appendix with version counts. The flat ZIP holds the newest version of each artifact or generated file, keeping names Claude supplied, such as results.py. Earlier revisions are not duplicated.

To save a Claude Doc or deck published as an artifact, use Claude’s own Export for its content. Our export keeps a titled link where it was created, without including that content. Slide HTML and JSON written only to build a published deck are excluded from both the appendix and ZIP.

After an edit or retry, the export follows the displayed branch. Select the one you want first. Use the icon under a reply for that answer, or Export beside Share for the conversation. Each export covers one chat or reply.

There is no CSV, JSON, TXT, or image output, bulk backup, or automatic Notion or Drive sync. Copy leaves equations as LaTeX text in Google Docs. PDF opens Chrome’s print dialog, where you choose Save as PDF.

Choose it if you want to revise the math in Word or keep generated files alongside the conversation.

Where AI Chat Exporter fits better

The official site advertises CSV for tabular work, JSON for processing conversation data, and images for visual copies, alongside PDF and text formats. Check a sample’s fields before using it in another process.

Its listing describes selecting combinations of turns, useful for four answers scattered through a longer discussion. It also advertises PDF appearance controls and images embedded in Markdown.

For a Claude Project, the listing offers a ZIP of files and documents or a combined Markdown or text file. Check which collection you need: Project files differ from the latest generated artifacts in one chat.

The website names Chrome and Edge as officially supported browsers. This installation remains Claude-specific. The publisher’s ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini exporters are separate extensions.

Choose it if you need selected turns, CSV or JSON, image output, or the advertised Project file download.

Compare PDF processing and the price you would pay

Our extension creates documents in the browser without a separate account or a server receiving the chat. It reads the chat being exported when you open its menu or popup. See the privacy page for details.

AI Chat Exporter’s processing explanation says its servers handle selected PDF content temporarily and delete it afterward. Its other advertised formats run in the browser. The listing requires sign-in for PDF, while non-PDF exports work without an account.

For Markdown or JSON, those PDF server and sign-in requirements do not apply.

The PDF plans offer three free PDFs per day. Starter allows 30 daily for $1.98 per month billed yearly. Standard allows 100 daily for $2.98 per month billed yearly. Compare the annual charge and daily allowance with the number of documents you expect to save.

Our extension is free to install, and Markdown, Copy, and artifact downloads are always free. Check the product page for PDF and Word terms. Compare checkout prices for the format and volume you need.

Choose according to the next step

Pick DocMyChat to revise a Word formula, keep the latest generated files, or create a document locally without an extension account. Save one chat or reply to edit and hand over.

Pick AI Chat Exporter for CSV, JSON, images, selected turns, or its advertised Project file export. Embedded Markdown images may suit your notes better than links requiring a Claude sign-in.

Consider a 30-message analysis with two equations, a table, and a generated script. A colleague needs the calculation in Word, while another process needs conversation data. Compare each output against its task.

Try a short, nonsensitive sample in the actual destination. Edit the formula, check the selected messages, and open any source files. Check images separately, especially if someone else will read the file.

The AI Chat Exporter alternatives guide covers other document destinations and multi-site tools if neither fits.

Questions

Does either extension replace my Claude subscription?

No. Both help you export work from Claude. Their installation, export allowances, and payment options are separate from the Claude account you use to open the conversation.

Can I convert a copied reply without installing either extension?

Yes. Paste the text into the free Markdown to Word converter to create a Word document in your browser. It is useful when you only need one editable answer.

How should I compare speed on a long conversation?

Export the same conversation in the same format. Before judging by download time, check the beginning, middle, and end of each file for missing messages or broken formatting.

Can I add timestamps to a DocMyChat export?

Turn on Add timestamps in the export menu. The option is off by default, and the extension remembers your choice. Check the setting before sharing another export.
