DocMyChat vs Claude Toolbox: documents or chat tools?
Choose by the task: editing a saved answer, finding an old passage, or reusing source files. First check which Toolbox extension you have.
Choose DocMyChat for readable documents, editable Word equations, or artifact source files. Choose the original Claude Toolbox for searching chat history, bookmarking messages, and TXT or JSON exports. Its website now promotes a different extension, AI Toolbox, so match features and prices to the listing you install.
First, identify the extension
The original store listing has ID camddjjmcemmmlndbciaodchkodhgibh and names MUHAMED EL ISAWI as its developer.
Its Claude product page now promotes the Claude module of AI Toolbox, formerly ChatGPT Toolbox. The installation link opens a different listing, ID jlalnhjkfiogoeonamcnngdndjbneina, from the same developer.
The table below refers to the original extension ID. Separately labeled AI Toolbox details describe the current product advertised on the website.

Choose a document exporter when editing matters
DocMyChat’s Word output is a .docx with real heading styles, tables, and editable Office Math equations. You can revise a formula in Word instead of rebuilding it from a picture or LaTeX text. The Word export guide explains that workflow.
PDF gives you typeset math, page numbers, and wrapped code lines. It opens a preview and Chrome’s print dialog, where you choose Save as PDF. Word and Markdown download directly. When you use Copy and paste into Google Docs, formulas arrive as LaTeX text.
The appendix keeps artifact content with the discussion. The ZIP gives you the latest included files for reuse, without earlier drafts. It’s flat, with no folders, and a slash in a filename becomes a space. See the artifact download guide if directory structure matters to your project.
A Claude Doc or deck published as an artifact appears as a titled link, without its contents. Slide HTML and JSON written only to build a published deck are excluded from the appendix and ZIP. Don’t treat a saved conversation as a download of every linked deliverable.
This route handles one chat or reply at a time, without bulk history export or scheduled backups.
When Toolbox is the better fit
The original listing describes keyword and title search, exact or partial matches, and message bookmarks that return to a particular passage. It also advertises a usage view and themes.
Those features help before you know which chat to export. If you remember a phrase but not the conversation title, search can locate the exchange. A bookmark keeps a useful answer within reach while work continues. DocMyChat doesn’t search, organize, tag, or bookmark chats.
The current AI Toolbox listing advertises folders, saved prompts, prompt chains, tags, and bulk export across several assistants. Its Claude module includes an artifact vault. These belong to the newer extension and help with ongoing work.
A vault helps you find generated work across conversations. A per-chat ZIP helps you hand over the latest source files from a known thread. If you expect to do both, include finding an artifact and opening its downloaded file in your trial. Count the steps you’ll repeat, not just the advertised formats.
For TXT or JSON work, inspect a small export in the program that will read it before exporting more.
Match the price to the product
As of November 3, 2026, AI Toolbox’s single-module plans list regular prices of $9.99 monthly, $59 billed annually, or $99 once for lifetime access. Its sale runs through December 1: $4.99 monthly, $29.50 annually, or $49.50 once. The page says subscriptions started during the sale keep their discounted rate on renewal. These are current-module offers, not quotes for the original extension ID.
The Claude-module FAQ describes free TXT export, with Markdown, JSON, PDF, and bulk export on Premium. The product page says existing Toolbox subscriptions and lifetime licenses continue without migration. Identify any existing entitlement before buying again.
The pricing policy lists prices in USD and requires your checkout email to match your Claude account. Monthly and annual plans renew automatically.
Our extension is free to install. Markdown, Copy, and artifact downloads are always free. Use the product page for current PDF and Word terms.
Read the privacy details for each action
The original listing says conversations stay in the browser. Its privacy-policy link redirects to the current AI Toolbox policy, whose Claude section describes different data flows.
That section says TXT, Markdown, and JSON exports are generated on the device. PDF sends the selected conversation to a server for rendering. Context Mentions for long chats and Carry this chat forward send content for summarization. The vendor says it discards that content afterward. It separately describes server storage for folder names, saved prompts, and conversation IDs.
These are current Claude-module statements. For the original extension, ask which provisions apply to your version. Local storage and local processing answer different questions.
DocMyChat builds documents in the browser without sending chats to its own servers. It reads only the chat being exported when its menu or popup opens, using your existing claude.ai session. It needs no extension account and has no analytics or tracking. ExtensionPay handles payment if you choose Pro.
Try the task that determines your choice
Imagine a forecasting discussion with a three-column table, an equation, and two revisions of forecast.py. You need to find the assumption later, send an editable explanation to a colleague, and keep the final script.
Try the sequence with a nonsensitive chat first. If the extensions’ controls interfere, enable one at a time.
- Search for a distinctive phrase with Toolbox.
- Bookmark the relevant message.
- Open that conversation on claude.ai in desktop Chrome.
- Use DocMyChat’s Export beside Share, or the export icon under the final reply.
- Choose Word for the explanation.
- Download Artifacts for the source files.
- Open the document and change one variable in the equation.
- Open the ZIP and confirm that it contains the intended final script.
Save the full conversation if the colleague needs the assumptions and corrections. Save one reply if the finished answer contains all the necessary context. Keep filenames clear enough to distinguish the editable handoff from the original discussion.
If you already have the answer open, start by exporting. The exporter comparison covers other combinations of formats and features.
Questions
Will a saved DocMyChat file update when the chat continues?
No. The extension exports one chat or reply at a time and has no automatic sync. Save another copy after continuing the conversation.
Can I use DocMyChat on my phone or in the Claude desktop app?
No. It works on claude.ai in Google Chrome on a desktop computer. Transfer the exported file to another device if you need to read it there.
Does a Markdown download keep images available offline?
DocMyChat’s Markdown keeps image links that open while you’re signed in to claude.ai. Save essential images separately for an offline record.
Will the export include every retried answer?
DocMyChat follows the branch currently shown on screen. Select the version you need before exporting. Other branches aren’t combined into the file.
